Church of St Twrog, Maentwrog, Gwynedd

formerly in: Merioneth

Diocese of Bangor

Church (Anglican)

The medieval church was replaced in 1814, which in turn was transformed by Douglas & Fordham of Chester. The patrons were the Oakeley family of nearby Plas Tan-y-Bwlch, in particular William Edward Oakeley (1828-1912), who is commemorated in one of the windows, and his wife Mary Oakeley (died 1914), whose woodcarving is much in evidence in the furnishings.
