Church built 1969 by F.R. Bates, Son and Price, to serve the Roman Catholic community in the town. Prior to the opening of the new church, Mass had been said in a building known as Waddle Hall, named after Jessie Maud Waddle and Clara Hulm Waddle, who founded the Catholic mission in 1903.
