1886

Three-light window showing the Crucifixion with Mary, John and Mary Magdalene; three angels in the lower panels.

size: 180 cm (width) [approx]
firm/studio: Shrigley & Hunt
designer: Carl Almquist

Church of St Bledrws, Betws Bledrws, Ceredigion
east wall of the chancel

Angel in the central lower panel holds the text: 'Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches & wisdom, and strength & honour & glory & blessing'.

Given in memory of John Inglis-Jones of Derry Ormond, by his wife Lady Elizabeth, 1886. (Inglis-Jones had died in 1869, aged 40). The glass displaced the east window of 1854 by Ward & Hughes, which was moved to a church nearby at Llangybi.

Note Pre-Raphaelite style of foliage background. The figures of Mary and John are particularly well drawn.
