probably 1890s

Two-light window showing Christ and another disciple in the left-hand light, and John and James in the boat in the right-hand light. Musical angels at the tops of the main lights, and roundels with the letter J crowned beneath the main scene. A flaming chalice and heart in the upper cinquefoil.

firm/studio: Lavers & Westlake

Church of St John, Porthmadog, Gwynedd
west wall of the nave (window number: wI)

Given in memory of Charles Easton Spooner (1818–89) by his friends. Most spellings of his name appear as Charles Easton Spooner, although the name on the window is Charles Euston Spooner.

Text beneath the main scene: 'They immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him' (Matthew 4:22).
