St Donat

Standing figure of Donat at the centre of a three-light window, surrounded by heraldry and symbols including two monograms of the deceased's initials. A scene below shows the saint on a boat holding a book and making a blessing, surrounded by a group.

Given in memory of Edward Stradling Nicholl Carne (1849-1862. The arms of the Stradlings are shown in the left-hand light, the arms of the Carnes, depicting the pelican in her piety, are on the right.There is some confusion over the identity of Donat, whose Welsh form is Dunawd. However, the church guide states that the name comes from Donams, who originated in Ireland or Scotland, became Bishop of Fiesole, in Italy.
