Christ in the House of Mary and Martha
detail from Christ with Mary and Martha and Christ with Children
probably 1890s
Most of the right-hand light of this two-light window has been lost. The left-hand light depicts Christ seated in the house of Mary and Martha, with Mary Mgdalane sitting listening to his teaching, and Martha behind, serving. Agnus Dei in the upper light.
Church of St John the Baptist, Dowlais, Merthyr Tydfil(liturgical) west wall of the transept
Angels above and below the scene hold the text 'She hath chosen | the good part'. The upper panel of the right-hand light survives with an angel who hold the text 'Suffer little children' suggesting that the missing subject was Christ with children. There is also damage to the #surviving left-hand light. (ObjectID=4104 ImageID=7663) Original File Name=Dowlais_DSC7057A.jpgRecord added by Martin Crampin. Last updated on 13-12-2011
