about 1851

Three-light window depicting the risen Christ in the central light, with fleeing soldiers below, and angels holding texts in the outer lights: 'Christ is risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept'. Above the figure of Christ is Jonah, emerging from the jaws of a sea monster. The right- and left-hand lights contain angels and the instruments of the Passion at the top.

designer: Frederick Preedy

Church of St Teilo, Merthyr Mawr, Bridgend
east wall of the chancel

A drawing for the window is among those by Frederick Preedy in the Library of the RIBA. If the window is contemporary with the church, i.e. of about 1851, the window was probably made by Preedy's collaborator, George Rogers.
