Two-light window with two scenes designed across the lights, with their biblical texts underneath them. The upper scene shows Gabriel appearing to Mary, who kneels in the right-hand light. Below, three shepherds adore the infant Christ, who is shown with Mary, Joseph and an angel.

Text with upper scene: 'In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth. To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.' (Luke 1: 26-7). Text with lower scene: 'There were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. They came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.' (Luke 2:, 8. 16).The window effectively echoes the adjacent window of the Annunciation to Zacharias and Christ recognised by John the Baptist, as the revealing of the new-born Christ to the shepherds is mirrored by the revealing of Christ as the messiah by John the Baptist to his followers.
