probably about 1844

Three windows set in the sanctuary apse of the church. Christ standing at the entrance to the tomb holding the gonfalon, with startled soldiers.

designer: David Evans

Christ Church, Welshpool, Powys
chancel apse

The date of the windows is unknown although it is likely that they were inserted at the time of the the building of the church. The easternmost window, depicting the Resurrection, has been damaged with pieces of glass missing. The Transfiguration, on the northern side, has also been damaged but has been repaired. The window on the southern side appears complete, but has probably been extensively repaired because the quality of much of the painting is not consistent with Evans' work in the other two windows. Mostyn Lewis noted that the window of the Transfiguration, which is after the painting by Raphael of 1518-20, resembles Evans' east window for the Church of St Julian, Shrewsbury of 1861.
