Stained Glass in Wales | Gwydr Lliw yng Nghymru

James Clark (1858-1943)

Artist, illustrator and designer of stained glass. James Clark was born in north-east England and became fluent in various media. Some of his windows were made by Arthur Dix. His image of The Great Sacrifice, with a fallen soldier at the foot of the cross, was made famous following its reproduction in The Graphic, Christmas 1914. He reproduced the image in his stained glass, and it was also closely imitated by other stained glass studios.
