Church of St Mary, Dolgellau, Gwynedd
sanctuary apse

Given in memory of Owen Stanley Wynne (died 1900).

A photograph of around 1875 by John Thomas shows the east end of the church without the window (National Library of Wales (WlAbNL)003381774). The window was therefore added after this date, perhaps at the same time as the glass for it was commissoned.

The central window of the apse, and artistically, the weakest. The angel above bears the inscription 'Peace, perfect peace', which is a quotation from a popular hymn. The angels accompanying Christ bear the words Amor (Love) and Dolor (Sorrow).
