1947 A set of three round-headed windows depicting the Nativity, the Baptism of Christ and the Calling of Peter and Andrew. Figures at the top of the windows depict Faith, Hope and Charity. artist: Francis Spear Church of the Resurrection, Ely, Cardiff west wall of the nave (window number: wI) Texts on scrolls at the top of each window, from left to right: 'Unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given' (Isaiah 9:6); 'Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation' (Isaiah 12:3); 'Incline your ear, and come unto me' (Isaiah 55:3). The three windows have different dedications, although all were given by Georgiana Gibson. The Nativity window was given in memory of her granddaughter Louisa Juliet Blyth; the Baptism window was given in memory of her mother, Louisa Tatem, and the window of Christ calling the disciples was given in memory of her brother, Lord Glanely. Georgiana Gibson also gave the windows in the sanctuary, which were made by the same artist, Francis Spear. |
