2016

Single-light window, with two small figures in an Antarctic landscape.

artist: Anne Clarkson

Church of St Mary the Virgin, Rhossili, Swansea
south wall of the nave (window number: sIV)

The window was installed in 2016 and dedicated on 17 February of that year, the anniversary of Edgar Evans' death while on Robert Falcon Scott's expedition to the South Pole in 1912. Evans was a native of the parish, and also commemorated in a large wall plaque in the church, erected by Lois Evans.

The colours, shades of blue and grey, together with different textured glass, give the impression of ice and snow.
