Above, Christ is shown on the cross between Mary and John in the right-hand light, with other bystanders in the left-hand light including the centurion, who is on horseback. Below, Christ stands with his disciples in the left-hand light, facing the centurion, who kneels before him, and bystanders.

Given in memory of Lieut Colonel Richard Lyons Otway Pearson (1831-90) by his nieces and nephews, and dated 1891.

Texts: (with the upper scene) 'Truly this was the Son of God.' (Matthew 27:54); (with the lower scene: 'Speak the word only' (Matthew 8:8); (between the upper and lower scenes) 'And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.' (Matthew 8:13).
