about 1862

Two-light window. Jesus walks on the water holding his hand out to St Peter, while other disciples look on from the boat.

size: 65 cm (width) [approx]

Fisherman's Chapel, Angle, Pembrokeshire
east wall

Stylistically the window would accord with a date of 1862, when Elizabeth Mirehouse provided for the restoration of the chapel.

Inscription: Lord help me for I perish. The passage is Matthew 14:24-33. The words'for I perish' have here been added to Peter's cry in v.30.

An appropriate image for a Fishermen's chapel. The figure of Christ is seen walking on the water, reaching out to the sinking Peter. (Matthew 14:30) As with the stilling of the storm window in the same chapel, the message is the necessity of faith, even in the face of adversity.
