about 1922

Five-light window. Scene representing the Last Supper across all five lights with Christ standing in front of the table holding a chalice. Eleven disciples around the table. Angels in the tracery lights hold the instruments of the Passion and words from the Eucharist.

firm/studio: Shrigley & Hunt

Church of St Michael, Abergele, Conwy
east wall of the south chancel

Signed by the firm.

Text below the main scene: 'My flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.' (John 6:55).

The window replaces an earlier east window of 1850, painted by Mrs Jones Bateman, Pentre Mawr, in memory of her husband (died 1849). The window had been damaged by the weather, and was deemed out of keeping with the later glass inserted in the church (information provided by Margaret Macaulay).
