Set of three two-light windows.
In the Nativity scene, Mary and Joseph are shown with the Christ-child, Mary kneeling while Joseph stands holding a lantern. Birds are flying in front of the thatched roof. In the left hand light two angels attend holding gifts. Presentation: Simeon holds the Christ-child with Anna shown behind in the right-hand light, while Joseph, Mary and another female figure look on, standing below three lanterns. In the right-hand window the Holy Family are shown in the carpenter's workshop, with an angel holding a bowl. Joseph at work with a hammer.
A saint is depicted in the tracery light of each window, that above the Nativity is St David, above the Holy Family in the Carpenter's Workshop is St Patrick and the other is probably St Winefride.

The commission is noted in the Harry Clarke Studios order book with order no. 1463, 8th September 1925 for the Very Revd. D. Wilkinson OMI. The three two-light windows were estimated at a cost of £95 each. A further £450 for 'Decoration' is also noted (information provided by Ken Ryan). Could this substantial sum have been for the three large reredoses, one of which partially obscures the windows? The part of the firm undertaking ecclesiastical decoration of Joshua Clarke & Sons was managed by Harry Clarke's brother Walter after Joshua Clarke's death in 1921.
Each of the fully visible lights carry the dedication: 'In loving memory of Henry and Elizabeth Byrne RIP'. (ObjectID=3222 ImageID=2000) Original File Name=_MG_5542.jpgRecord added by Martin Crampin. Last updated on 14-12-2012
