Two-light window. Christ stands by a sheepfold, with children at his feet. Peter kneels before him with two further disciples looking on.

Trinity Methodist Church, Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan
south wall of the south aisle

Text: 'Lovest thou me? Feed my lambs, Feed my sheep' (abbreviated from John 21:15-17).

The figure of Christ in this window shares similarities with Christ as depicted in the east and transept windows, by H.J. Salisbury. The patterning in the tracery clearly suggests that the window is part of a set including all of the south aisle windows. However, in these the style of painting is different, including the depictions of Christ. John Newman, in the Buildings of Wales: Glamorgan describes the windows as 'almost a complete set, by H.J. Salisbury' (p.492), from which it seems likely that although the windows may have been from the same source, different painters were responsible for the most of the figures in south aisle windows.

Given in memory of Arthur Robert Dawson (1861–1951). The windows at the church have been thought to date from the first half of the twentieth century, but the death of the man commemorated here demonstrates that at least this window, and perhaps others in a similar style, are post-war.
