Scenes from the Passion of Christ
1873
Five-light window with five scenes: from left to right: Christ in the the garden of Gethsemane; Judas greeting Christ with a kiss as the soldiers come to arrest him; the Crucifixion with Mary, John, Mary Magdalene, Longinus and either Nicodemus or Joseph of Arimathea; Christ meeting Veronica while carrying his cross; and Christ seated as the Man of Sorrows, with the instruments of the passion below. Five angels with the text 'The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord' (Job 1:21) form a predella along the base of the window, while above are four depictions of Christ: as the Good Samaritan, the Good Shepherd, the Sower, and the Light of the World. Uppermost lights depict the Alpha and Omega and angel with the text 'I am the Way the Truth and the Life' (John 14:6).
