Two-light window. Three standing fishermen at work with boats in the background. All look to the left and out of the window to where Christ speaks the words given below: 'Follow me and I will make you fishers of men' (Matthew 4:19). Angels below with text: 'and they straightway left their nets and followed him' (Matthew 4:20).

firm/studio: Celtic Studios

Church of St Elvan, Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taff
south wall of the south aisle

Signed by the studio, with words rather than their usual mark. The use of Gothic canopy work is unusual in their work and anachronistic for the 1950s, but, together with the angels holding the texts below, match the style of the Robert Newbery windows of the early twentieth century.

Given in memory of the Most Revd Charles Alfred Howell Green, who was vicar of Aberdare from 1893–1914, and his wife Hon. Katharine Mary Green, who was the eldest daughter of W.T. Lewis, first Lord Merthyr of Senghenydd. Charles Green was the vicar at the time of the improvements to the church, including the addition of the south aisle, or Green aisle, as it has been known. He went on to be bishop of Monmouth, bishop of Bangor and archbishop of Wales from 1934–44.
