Three-light window. A shepherd carries a lamb on his shoulders, with sheep grazing and angels holding texts at either side.

size: 44 cm (width of each light)

Church of St Matthew, Buckley, Flintshire
west wall of the north aisle

Text: 'He shall feed his flocks. He shall gather the lambs with his arm.' (Isaiah 40:11).

Dedication: 'Given by his wife and daughter in blessed memory of Harry Drew Shepherd of Souls: Laus Deo'. Harry Drew (died 1910), the son-in-law of William Gladstone, was vicar of Buckley, and oversaw the rebuilding of the church between 1897 and 1905.


The image of the shepherd here follows closely upon the verse from Isaiah carried by the child angel.
