1883, with glass from about 1483-5 and 1500

Five-light window comprising medieval glass worked into a nineteenth century design. The central three lights depict Christ crucified with angels between Mary and John, and below four figures flank the Virgin and Child. Standing figures of saints in the outer lights: David and Thomas, with a lion and a boar below.

Church of St Mary, Nercwys, Flintshire
east wall of the chancel

Given in memory of Thomas Wynne & Frederick Francis Lloyd Fletcher.

The majority of the window is of 1883, incorporating fragments from at least two medieval windows. Several of the angels are medieval, as well as sections of the canopies. Also probably medieval are David's mitre, the head of John, and parts of the lion and boar. As the boar was the symbol of Richard III, this window can perhaps be dated to his short reign (1483-5).
